In his recent feature, he highlighted the growing excitement surrounding Australian wines in 2024, noting how recent vintages have brought a renewed vibrancy to the industry. Stelzer emphasized the exceptional quality and diversity of these wines, driven by back-to-back stellar vintages from 2021-2024. He called these vintages “some of the finest seasons in living memory,” known for producing wines of remarkable elegance across all varieties and styles.

Among these celebrated wines, we are honoured to have our Show Sparkling Limited Release Shiraz 2012 named Tyson Stelzer’s Sparkling Red of the Year. This wine reflects the culmination of years of dedication from our team, ensuring the legacy of Great Western sparkling wines continues to thrive. Stelzer praised the 2012 vintage as one of the greatest for this iconic sparkling Shiraz, highlighting its “satsuma plum, blackberry, dark raspberry, and liquorice density,” along with its “super fine texture of mineral structure and phenomenal tannins.” He lauded the wine for its depth, brightness, and elegance, declaring it a standout sparkling red.

Our inclusion in this esteemed list is a proud moment for the entire Grampians wine community. We are also thrilled to see fellow Grampians winery Mount Langi Ghiran featured for their Langi Shiraz 2021, which Tyson awarded 98 points. He praised its “black fruit depth, liquorice complexity, and bountiful black pepper,” as an embodiment of the region’s unique terroir, showcasing the exceptional strength and diversity of Grampians wines.
