SEPPELT WINES
Since 1851, the Seppelt name has been associated with Australian Wine when the first vines were planted in the Barossa Valley, South Australia. In 1863, the first vines where planted in historic Great Western vineyard, St Peters. The Great Western Winery was founded by Joseph Best in 1865. He commissioned local gold miners to tunnel the underground cellars that we know as “The Drives”
By the 1900’s, the Seppelt family had become the largest wine company is Australia. In 1918, the Seppelt family took ownership of the Great Western winery and put Great Western on the map, not only with the magnificent sparkling wines but also exceptional tables times, particularly Shiraz.
When you visit Great Western, you can tour the underground cellars and taste the award winning, luxury wines. The cellar door is open 7 days a week.
