Vine Lodge and Bests Cottage

The historic homestead and Maids Quarters that was built by Hans Irvine in the 1800s. The entire property will sleep up to 14 people, across 7 rooms. Vine Lodge has hosted many dignitaries and hosted many celebrations. Dame Nellie Melba has sang in the ballroom, Mark Twain visited and stayed in the homestead whilst writing his travel book “Following the Equator – A journey around the world”.  I presume he drank quite a bit of the Hans Irvine wine that was produced on site in those days and wrote about the potential of the fledgling wine region, noting its potential for producing exceptional wine… “The Stawell region had great vineyards but the Great Western is regarded as a mode.”  Australia’s very first Governor General, Lord Hopetoun, also stayed at the property. Why not add your name to the long list of amazing people who have stayed on the grounds at Seppelt Wines. The large accommodation includes the main Vine Lodge homestead, Bests Cottage and the cute Maid Quarters.
