Seppelt has a rich history dating back to the 1890s, being a global pioneer of the uniquely Australian wine style, the Seppelt Original Sparkling Shiraz. Although precise records are scarce, it is believed that Charles Pierlot, working at Hans Irvine’s Cellars (which became Seppelt in 1918), experimented with producing some of Australia’s earliest ‘Sparkling Burgundy’ wines in 1892. More than 125 years later, Seppelt continues this legacy, enjoying a reputation for crafting some of the finest expressions of Sparkling Shiraz in the world.
