the historic home of Seppelt Wines in the Grampians
Seppelt Wines in Great Western have welcomed the new release of the 2021 Grüner Veltliner to the cellar door. Grüner Veltliner, pronounced “GROO-ner FELT-lee-ner” has aromas of sweet spice and peppercorns with pears and green apple. The palate shows spiced pears and citrus combined with textural elements and fine, chalky acidity that are typical of the Henty wine region.
This is the second vintage release of this variety of wine for Seppelt, with the last release, 2018 receiving an impressive 95 points from James Halliday.
James Halliday
“New to Henty, with a perfumed bouquet delivering a full helping of white pepper, spice and pear picked up by the linear palate. It is long, intense, citrus-tinged, and has real purpose. The very cool climate is the key to an exciting wine.”
Expect a dry, light-bodied style of Grüner Veltliner, similar to a Riesling. This high-quality, crisp white wine has been made for early consumption and is available for tasting now at the Seppelt Great Western Cellar Door. Grüner Veltliner pairs very well with Asian Foods. Not many wines marry well with asparagus or artichokes: Grüner Veltliner is the one exception.
Seppelt Cellar Door is open 7 days a week and has again received a 5 red star James Halliday Rating.
