Snap Lockdown – Snap Wedding
Do you think you could throw a wedding together in a few hours? That is exactly what happened last Thursday when Victoria entered it’s sixth Lockdown with only 4 hours notice.
Phoebe and Xander were to be married on the 9th August 2021, but brought their wedding forward to last Thursday.
“It was about 2:30pm Thursday afternoon and my Dad rang me and said he thought we were about to go into another lockdown.” said the newly named Mrs. Baker, “We were in Ballarat picking up the boys’ suits, so we quickly made the decision to get married that night at 8pm, and started to head back home to Horsham to get ready.”
Phoebe’s parents rang all of the vendors and got everything organised for an 8pm wedding that evening, but then the announcement was made that Victoria had to be locked down at 8pm, so another round of phone calls were made to bring it even further forward to about 7pm.
“It was pretty stressful at the time, but it was everything I dreamed of, perfect wedding, loved every moment.”
Initially Xander and Phoebe had planned for around 100 people to attend their wedding and after the 5th Victorian lockdown, and the restrictions on the number of guests allowed at weddings was reduced, they cut their guest list to include close family and friends of around 30 people. “We live streamed it to everyone else, we felt their love and support even though they weren’t there in person.” says Phoebe.
“I can not thank our Vendors enough. Once the call went out, it all just happened. Michelle, the owner of George and Co organised at the last minute Jamila Johns to do my Make-up because my original Make up artist was from Geelong, the Florist, Pick a Posie had everything ready to go, our amazing Photographer Justine from Dream Cave snapped into action and Seppelt Wines quickly got the venue ready, it was amazing how it all come together within only a few hours.” said a grateful Phoebe.Their guests arrived at Seppelt Wines in Great Western and witnessed the marriage before squeezing in two courses all before the 8pm lockdown time.
“We are married, and that was all that mattered. It was everything that Xander and I dreamed of, it was perfect..”
